Hanna Quevedo

Originally from Andalusia, Photographer Hanna Quevedo (b. 1980) divides her year between Mexico, Spain, and the United States. She has explored 35 countries, working as a photojournalist, editor, teacher, and collaborator on innumerable artistic projects. Quevedo can usually be found at the intersection of art and social justice, working with artists and activists from communities on the peripheries of society. Her first photography book, Dessert First! (Burn Barrel Press/Inframundo /Hydra, 2021), collects raw-yet-tender 35mm images from a decade of travel through forgotten corners of the U.S., during which she immersed herself in a demimonde of radicals, romantics, and outsiders (Dessert First! has been featured in ARTDOC Photography Magazine, Creative Boom, PRINT, and Elephant Magazine). Quevedo's photographs have been exhibited around the world, and have received recognition from PhotoNOLA, Photoespaña, Centro de la Imagen, and the San Francisco Contemporary Jewish Museum. Currently, she is working toward a degree in "International Cultural Management and Social Innovation" while developing an art-centered, collective community called BACUÁ, in Mazunte, Oaxaca. Funds from the sale of Hanna’s work goes directly toward creating an art residency program at BACUÁ.
