Oil Lamp Weed Pot

$20.00

There is no better example of 1970s “hippie pottery” than the oil lamp— an essential off-the-grid accoutrement in every commune and crash pad. Originally, a small clay bead held a wick at the top, which drew lamp oil from the vessel below. The round handle recalls candle-holders of yore, which one might carry downstairs to answer that rap-rap-rapping on the chamber door… This example happens to have a gorgeous salt glaze, and makes an excellent small vase, or “weed pot.” Unknown (California) potter.
