A hand-carved soapstone sculpture depicting a figure staring into the distance, wearing a heavy parka, or amauti. Nunavut (Canada), mid 20th century. A simple composition, peaceful and affecting. Unsigned, but bearing the early (“Eskimo”) version of the official CEAAD sticker, or “Igloo Tag.”
