Naive Otter Carving

The North American river otter (Lontra canadensis) is widely, regarded as the best of all otters — playful, intelligent, and ridiculously cute. Agile both on land and in the water, they are adept at catching crawdads, and stealing fish from fisherman. They have even been known to swim out into the kelp beds and mug their less-intelligent cousins, the corpulent sea otters. This naïve carving captures the impertinent charm of these wily mustelids. Though found in British Columbia, it appears to be carved from oak, so it may have originated further south.
